A New Idea for Using Buttons – SWAT Drill #24

Today I am sharing my last project for SWAT. Yes, you read that right. I hinted that I was easing my Design Team commitments in 2014 and this is the second team I am stepping down from. It’s hard. I’ve been with Lanette’s team since the beginning but … they don’t call them ‘hard decisions’ for nothing! I have loved my time with this team and will miss the behind the scenes interaction and comraderie. I hope you all continue to play along with their challenges!! I know I will!

And speaking of challenges, we have a new one for you today. We’ve got a sketch with a twist for you. Here’s the sketch.

What I’m Going to be Playing With

I just opened the January Gossamer Blue kit and filmed it for you all!!

Just so you know, I am in no way affiliated with Gossamer Blue, I just heard good things about them, liked their kits and like their Album challenge. I figure if I have the added incentive of showing all of you my layouts created from each kit, I might have a chance of getting my free album in 6 months!! LOL!

Enjoy! And if  you want to get your own kit, check out the Gossamer Blue site here. If you are just interested in some of the products you see but aren’t ready to commit to a monthly kit, please feel free to use my Two Peas affiliate link in the side bar. 🙂

January Colour Challenge at The Memory Nest

Good Monday morning everyone!

Hope you all had a great weekend. My husband was out of town at a ‘Boys Weekend’ so it was just me and my girls. I took the weekend off work to be available to drive hither and yon but it also meant I got some much needed scrappy time. Yay! I will be sharing the results of that time over the next few days starting with this layout.

Practical Scrappers Blog Hop

Welcome to the Practical Scrappers Blog Hop where we are Scrapping our Stash.

CHA is this weekend and that means the industry is putting out all kinds of fabulous new product.  So what better time to kick off our new monthly series of Scrapping our Stash!  A special shout out to the sponsor of today’s hop: Kiwi Lane Designs!

Kiwi Lane Designs creates templates that help take the frustration out of scrapbooking!  And one lucky winner today will get a border set and an accessory set from Kiwi Lane. Details on how you can win this prize are on the Practical Scrappers blog!

You should have arrived here from Lanette Erickson‘s blog. If not, you can go to the Practical Scrappers blog to start from the beginning or for the full list in case you get lost along the way! From my site please head on over to Wendy Coffman.

Today I took the idea of using your stash in a different direction. I wanted to show you how I use my monthly kit subscriptions. I’ve been getting a kit from Gossamer Blue since September and took some videos but never shared them until now. (It’s your lucky day!!) In this video I open up my October kit (and the add-on I splurged on) and go through the contents for you. Below you will see the layouts I created from the kit and what I have left over. Keeping in mind that the add-on included a 6×6 paper pad, I think I did not too bad using up my kit that month! Continue reading

January’s Sketch for Practical Scrappers

It’s a new month, a new year for that matter, and we have a new sketch for you to use over at Practical Scrappers.

It’s another wonderful one! For the past many months the incredibly talented Liz Chidester has provided the Practical Scrapper Design Team – and you, our readers – beautiful layout sketches. I know I have created some of my favourite layouts using her sketches. She’s decided to step down to pursue other endeavours and we will all miss her on the team. Here is my layout and Liz’s last sketch for Practical Scrappers.

SWAT Drill #23 – Resolutions for 2014

Okay, I don’t do New Year’s Resolutions any more. It was too depressing to constantly fail!

Since 2011 I have chosen One Little Word (check out Ali Edwards site and her class if you are new to this concept) and that has been better for me. Basically, I choose one word that represents what I want to invite into my life that year and when things get a bit tough, I can recall my word and refocus on what’s important. Makes the daily chaos bearable … most of the time! My word for 2011 was RELEASE as I was harbouring a lot of negativity I needed to get rid of. For 2012 I chose FOCUS and it did wonders for my scrapbooking! An unintentional benefit to be sure but I was grateful all the same. It worked so well I chose it for 2013 but less than half way through I had completely lost all focus and floundered for the rest of  the year. Lesson there being, no matter how awesome a Word has been for you, chose a new one every year!

This year I have been thinking long and hard and have chosen SIMPLIFY. All that unfocussedness (yes, I am calling that a word!!) has got me down and it is time to regroup, take stock and make some changes! The girls over at SWAT have also been thinking about their Words for 2014 and we have some to share with you. Check out the link to see everyone’s pages. Here is mine.
