A little more about Alison

Me with my 3 girls, my husband and my dog Scout

Hi, I’m Alison and I like to make things. All. The. Things!

Back in 2009 I was in between Interior Design classes while waiting for daughter #3 to arrive when I decided to finish the scrapbook of my honeymoon. Things quickly snowballed once I discovered the vibrant online community of paper crafters. The honeymoon album led to a baby scrapbook and before I knew it I was hooked!

I am proud to say that my passion for making scrapbooks, cards, party invitations, mixed media items, and more, turned into opportunities to share that with others. I was on the Design Teams for  Practical ScrappersLet’s Get Sketchy, and S.W.A.T, as well as a Creative Team member for Amanda Robinson Studios, and a Staffer for the online magazine Scrapbook News and Review. I’ve had scrapbook layouts published in Creative Scrapbooker Magazine (formerly Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine) and Scrapbook Cards and Today Magazine.

Over the years, my passion morphed into a business and I started selling my cards, crafting kits, and paper gifting creations at Craft Markets. Even that didn’t satisfy and in 2021 I opened a brick and mortar store with a fellow hand made artisan. Our store had a little bit of everything from the paper crafting to the fibre arts and all things in between. We met so many talented individuals and artists. Every day was an exploration into new genres and ideas. It was awesome!

I’ve always had a passion for learning and crafting and given the opportunity, I’d learn ALL the crafts! It was very tempting but I refrained from most of the fun looking crafts we sold supplies and kits for in the store. What I did learn was how to crochet and knit as we had a large customer base that I needed to be able to service from a more educated POV.

Turns out I love to crochet! Something I took up to have a tiny bit of knowledge ended up consuming my life, and I now teach others how to crochet with my friend and crochet biz buddy Kim from Frog & Stitch. With the store closing I have ventured into the wonderful online world of yarn sales, kit building, pattern writing, and teaching (COMING SOON depending on when you’re reading this!) All while trying to maintain my family stories through scrapbooks and stretching my artist muscles with my card making.

Phew!

When I first wrote this bio I laughed that you’d find me in my Scrap Cave covered in glitter. It’s now more likely to find me drowning in yarn than glitter but the principle remains. I am happiest when my hands are busy making!

So glad you found me. Can’t wait to get to know you too.

If you’re local, check out my calendar with local meet ups and classes (COMING SOON).
