Giving it a Personal Touch

Good Monday morning everyone! How are we today? Ready for new inspiration? Chomping at the bit to be creative?

Yeah, me too!

And as promised, I have a card share today. It’s my eldest daughter’s 14th birthday today (I know, right? 14?! When did that happen? I swear just last week she was starting Kindergarten!!) This card was made from the left over scraps of my first Clear the Desk kit.

Birthday Card by Alison Day

A couple of patterned circles that I’d previously cut out but not put on a layout, some puffy stickers from the American Crafts sheet, some letter and number stickers from my Simple Stories packs, the remainder of that striped sticker from Shimelle’s True Stories sticker book, and a few paper scraps. Not bad, right? Oh, and some Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Gold Lamé. Because everything needs a bit of sparkle!

That’s it! Now go and make something!

Cheers!

What’s on Your Desk?

Despite committing to fully completing LOAD218 this month, I signed up for Shimelle’s latest class called Clear The Desk (click the link to check out more info on this class and sign up if you like – NOT an affiliate link). Yes, I am certifiable, and I could combine my LOAD layouts with her class prompts, but I’ve already got a good, and working plan in place for LOAD so wanted to use her class to get other things off my desk and To Do list. It’s been a very busy few days around here!

Usually when I sign up for her classes it’s with the greatest of intentions, but I end up just enjoying watching her videos and I don’t participate. I know, what a waste, right? This time I decided to play along with the prompts and I’ve got 5 more completed layouts under my belt and more stash busted! Winner!

The premise of the class is to clear out products purchased in 2017 to make room for all the new 2018 products that are hitting stores now. I didn’t buy a ton of new product in 2017 – mostly Glitter Girl and I’ve been busting that stash with my Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio Tour Album for LOAD – so I decided to just try to clear out products I love but haven’t put on a page yet.

Here’s my first kit from my stash. Continue reading

Still Keeping Up?

How are you doing with LOAD218? Are you still managing to create a layout every day? With my daily videos I’ve been able to share little bits of what I love about the LOAD process, but you want to know my favourite thing about LOAD?

There are no rules!!

Well, I mean there are … but there aren’t. If you know what I mean.

If you want to create a layout every day and upload it to the Flickr gallery in the time allotted, then you are in for a finishers prize. BUT … and I can’t stress this enough … if you only do one layout in the month because that’s all you could fit in, then you’re also a winner. Because you got one more story told and in your albums than you would have if you hadn’t been doing LOAD.

Right?! Celebrate those small victories as hard as you celebrate the big ones!

That being said, I am celebrating the fact that we are at Day 22 and I have completed 22 layouts and 22 videos (actually 23 because I did two on Day 15)! Woot! Woot! Want to see my latest? As if you have a choice! Continue reading

Getting Over the Hump

Now that February is more than half way finished it is becoming even more important to me to finish this month’s LOAD strong! I have a tendency to leave projects unfinished (gasp!) but I am determined not to let that happen.

So, without further ado, I give you Days 15 – 17 of LOAD218 and the next 4 layouts that are going into my Harry Potter Studio Tour album. Yes, I said 4 layouts not 3. You’ll see!

Half Way There!

Can you believe it? Today marks the half-way point in LOAD218 and I have so far managed to keep up my goal of one layout a day (and my bonus goal of a process video to go with each layout!)

Here are Days 11 – 14 for your viewing pleasure.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Well, the title says it all, Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

How do you celebrate? I have long given up on the notion of being swept away with diamonds and champagne (and this year I’m fairly certain my husband commissioned our middle daughter to make a card for him to give me – um … say what?!) but the important part of my day is to show my love for my family. They are my forever Valentines after all!

Every year I try to make something for my girls. Some years I just have time to make them a card, but other years they wake up to something extra special. I’ve made Heart Shaped Photo Books (2011), fun Heart Shaped Toppers in a bucket of candy (2012), Heart Decor which busted my stash of Valentine’s Day embellishments (2014),  cute Mailboxes (2016), and more than I don’t have blog posts for.

This year I’m playing along with one of the February Challenges over at Paper Issues and making sure to use hearts on these super cute paper mugs full of candy! What girl doesn’t like receiving a bag of candy on Valentine’s Day, am I right?

I filmed the process so here it is. Continue reading

Easy Valentine’s Day Gift

Do you remember when you were little and you had no money to buy presents for your Mum or Dad so you’d make them a coupon book? It usually had things in it like “clean my room”, “put away the dishes”, or “wash the car”. Well, I’ve got a fun project for you to make for your kids this Valentine’s Day that hearkens back to those books.
