What’s on Your Desk?

Despite committing to fully completing LOAD218 this month, I signed up for Shimelle’s latest class called Clear The Desk (click the link to check out more info on this class and sign up if you like – NOT an affiliate link). Yes, I am certifiable, and I could combine my LOAD layouts with her class prompts, but I’ve already got a good, and working plan in place for LOAD so wanted to use her class to get other things off my desk and To Do list. It’s been a very busy few days around here!

Usually when I sign up for her classes it’s with the greatest of intentions, but I end up just enjoying watching her videos and I don’t participate. I know, what a waste, right? This time I decided to play along with the prompts and I’ve got 5 more completed layouts under my belt and more stash busted! Winner!

The premise of the class is to clear out products purchased in 2017 to make room for all the new 2018 products that are hitting stores now. I didn’t buy a ton of new product in 2017 – mostly Glitter Girl and I’ve been busting that stash with my Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio Tour Album for LOAD – so I decided to just try to clear out products I love but haven’t put on a page yet.

Here’s my first kit from my stash.

Clear the Desk #1 - kit #1

I go through everything in great detail in the video I made for the first layout from this kit so I won’t bore you with a rehash here. Just watch the video below.

Layout #1 – Grade 3

And here is the finished layout.

This background is a bolder pattern than I would normally have chosen but totally works with the photos I chose and my daughter’s larger than life personality. I’ve still got to sit her down and fill in that journalling!! LOL!

With one layout under our belts we were tasked to keep scrapping until that kit was finished so that’s what I did.

Layout #2 – Grade 6

And the finished layout.

This one required a softer touch than my youngest as she is our gentle soul child.

Layout #3 – Grade 8

And the finished layout.

Hopefully this one comes across as a bit more mature befitting her new status as a “highschooler”!

Layout #4 – Smile

I added lots of scraps from my scrap drawer for this one. I don’t feel that’s cheating as those also need to get cleared away, right??

And my final layout from this kit.

Layout #5 – I Will Not Dab!

I had fun with this one, I hope you could tell that!

Clear the Desk #5 - I Will Not Dab! by Alison Day

This layout used up the last of my full 12×12 papers so all I had left were paper scraps. With those remainders I made a card for my eldest who turns 14 tomorrow. I will share that card tomorrow on the blog so be sure to come back and check it out.

I feel I killed this kit pretty well. Here is what I have left.

Clear The Desk Kit #1 Remainders

Quite a few stickers from those two True Stories sticker books, lots of letter and number stickers from the Simple Stories packs (not a worry as I know I’ll be using them for more titles and dates down the road), quite a few of the puffy stickers left on both the American Crafts set as well as the Gossamer Blue set, only two dimensional stickers left from the My Mind’s Eye set, and 4 chipboard stickers left from that Pink Paislee set. I think that’s pretty good as far as embellishments go. I completely used up the cork stickers which is highly satisfying!

As for papers, just scraps left as you can see. I am planning to use that larger piece of eye glasses paper today on my LOAD layout so stay tuned for that! The rest will sit to the side of my desk to be added to future projects for this class as well as potentially future LOAD layouts. We will see!

Okay, that’s all for today. What have you been up to this week? Share a link in the comments, I’d love to see.

Cheers!
