LGS June Week 1

It’s the first Monday in June which means it’s Team A from Let’s Get Sketchy’s turn to inspire you. The new and improved Team A!! Are you excited to see what our new Design Team members have up their crafty sleeves?? Me too! Be sure to pop over to the LGS blog to welcome them!

Here’s this weeks sketch from the incredibly talented Jenessa Franco.

LGS June TeamA Week1

And here is what I did with it.

I switched it around a bit as I typically do. 🙂 This is also the 3rd of 5 layouts I created while taking Shimelle’s Scrapbook Remix class. You can see the other layouts here and here.

This is about our visit to the Open House at the local wild bird sanctuary. My eldest, Marley, had collected money for O.W.L (Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society) at her birthday in February so was very excited to get an extra fun opportunity to hand over her donations. We toured the cages of the “residents” – those birds whose injuries were too great to ever return them to the wild – before meeting up with their new mascot and getting into some fun games. All the proceeds of the games, tattoos and bakery items were going straight back to OWL so Marley felt no qualms about doing them all! Once we had toured the whole facility Marley took her remaining donation money (still over $30) into the office and adopted an owl for a year. I’ve said many times over how much I love my daughter’s big big heart but I’ll say it again!! She loves to help others – especially those furred and feathered “others” that can’t help themselves. Long may it last!!

You may or may not be able to tell, but that ‘l’ did not start out as an ‘l’. I think it was a ‘k’ but I can’t remember now. Being forced to use only your stash also forces you to get creative with that stash!

Another challenge Shimelle laid down for us was to use our patterned papers to create embellishments so I dug out a couple punches and got busy. I also went to town using up my embarrassingly large stash of journaling tags!!

Okay, now it’s your turn. Remember to link up your layout based on Jenessa’s sketch to Let’s Get Sketchy by Saturday to be considered for our weekly favourites pick. As it’s a new month their will be a new prize up for grabs. At time of publishing this I don’t have specifics but be sure to check out the blog for details there.
