Channeling My Inner Shimelle

It is July 10 and I have exactly one completed layout from my June Gossamer Blue kit. I need to complete 3 more by July 14th to fulfill the requirements for the monthly album challenge. But I’m stuck!

Totally, completely, frozen (and not in a Disney way!)

But I remembered a little workshop I took as part of True Scrap 3 called The Perfect Collection by Shimelle Lain and I decided to pull up my big girl panties and cut those papers! Continue reading

Die Cuts to Die For!

Do you love die cuts as much as I do? Or maybe you aren’t entirely sure what a die cut is?

Bradford714 scrapinar.jpg

Join Lain Ehmann and Kerri Bradford on July 14th to learn how to turn a “plain-Jane” die cut into something smashing with resources you already have at your fingertips.

Here’s What You’ll Learn:

  • How changing color and texture can change the whole look of your die-cut
  • How to get more from your dies and die-cuts so you can use one design multiple ways
  • How to use what you already have to generate many different results
  • … and maybe even how to design your own die-cut!

While Kerri is known for her electronic die-cut designs, she’ll be sharing ideas that can work with any manual or electronic machine. You won’t want to miss this interactive, entertaining session. And as always, there will be time for questions.

To register simply click on the image above (or the one in my sidebar). You’ll be taken to the registration page where you just  need to enter your email address to sign up. Can’t make it? No problem! All of Lain’s Scrapinars are recorded and available for your viewing pleasure for a limited time.

Hope to see you there!

Happy Canada Day!

Canada is 147 years old today. I am so proud to be a Canadian. I may have been born in the UK (and proud of that too!!) but coming to Canada was such a good decision. A few years ago I participated in a Blog Hop of fellow crafty Canadians and I wrote about my feelings on being Canadian. You can read all about it here.

To celebrate today I thought I’d share a layout I recently had published in the Summer issue of Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine.

June Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop

You’ve got this great piece of card stock which would be perfect for the half finished layout on your desk but … it’s got a giant hole in it where you cut out some shapes with your Cameo. Argh! What’s a girl to do?

Let me show you how I dealt with that exact situation in this month’s Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop brought you by Practical Scrappers. You should have arrived here from Kerri’s blog but if not and you want to start at the beginning, head on over to the Practical Scrappers Blog for the full list.

She’s Alive!!!

No really, I am. I may not have been very active posting AT ALL lately, but I have been creating layouts and cards in my little craft cave.

I’ve also been reading a lot of fiction books, watching a lot of YouTube videos and playing a lot of Candy Crush. Basically doing whatever I can to avoid dealing with this site! Although, in my defense (somewhat), I have been following a lot of classes over at Creative Live in an attempt to jump start my brain and this site.

My everyday life is hectic. Kids activities + my work schedule + my husbands schedule + all those “mommy” things we’re supposed to do, like grocery shop and menu plan, don’t leave a lot of time or energy for things like creating. Let alone blogging about what I’ve managed to find time to create! I know I’m preaching to the choir here when I say that 24 is just not enough hours in a day for all I “need” to do!

Right now we are pretty much in summer mode – 2 weeks early thanks to a Teacher’s strike. The pace seems slower somehow. By the end of this week all regular activities will be over. No more swim lessons or dance or field hockey or soccer. My youngest had her Preschool Graduation today and her wrap up party is Wednesday. I can taste the lazy mornings, afternoons playing on the Slip ‘N’ Slide and evenings when the kids play outside til bed time. Oh wait, that’s right. I work evenings. Scratch that last part. I guess I just get the lazy days. But the illusion of more time has my mind churning with how to get back on the blogging horse.

Just keeping it real people. This is going to be rough!

Oh, and while I being honest, I have been feeling a bit of a pull away from purely sharing my creative (cough, cough) genius and more toward sharing a bit about my life. Lessons learned. Lessons learning. Observations.  I was told today that I am a good writer. That my posts are highly ‘literate’. Hmm, time to test that out I think!

What do you think? Are you up for it?
