Baby Album Philosophy

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday. What are you up to today? Me? I’m hanging out at the girls school all day. My eldest daughter is in Grade 6 which is when they go to an overnight camp. Which also means their parents get to work their butts off raising money to reduce the out of pocket costs for each family. How is it that the parents have to do all the work?!

Sigh.

Anyway, long story short, I get to spend all day at the school taking delivery of a GIANT frozen pies and cookie dough order and then organizing them and handing them out. I predict a giant glass of wine will be needed after dinner!!

But I didn’t want to leave you hanging so today I just have a quick video share for you. It’s the next step in my album reorganization. It’s also a tiny bit embarrassing to show you how neglected my poor youngest daughter is (not at all really!! That child is spoiled!!)

Two Anna’s, Two Elsa’s and a Monster

Make it Monday - pinkWelcome to Make it Monday! You may be coming from Alice’s site where she has three tips for sharing memories of Halloween from childhood.

Did you play the Frozen Trick Or Treat drinking game last year?

You know, the one where every time an Anna, Elsa, Kristoff or Olaf showed up at your door you took a drink? No?

Probably a good thing. Just going by how many were in our school’s Halloween Parade, it could have been quite the game in our neighbourhood!

Today I have created a layout about my three daughters going out on Halloween night with my bestie’s two daughters. Five girls in all and we had two Anna’s and Two Elsa’s.

Yep. That really happened. Continue reading

Snack Bags for Crafty Types

Fall leaf by Alison Day DesignsHello October!

Can you believe it? Where did September go?!

The calendar says we’ve left summer behind but around these parts the sun is shining, the afternoons are warm, and I want to soak up every last ounce of that precious Vitamin D before it disappears for months.

(I may be in denial that socks are now required, flip flops are a wee bit too open to wear 24/7, and the heat may need to get turned on soon.)

Sigh.

But now that it’s officially October and Fall, I guess it’s perfectly acceptable to post about all things Thanksgiving and Halloween. Right? That’s the rule, isn’t it? No white after Labour Day and no Halloween talk until October 1st? Guess I’ve already broken that rule as I shared something last week that you could make and give away this Halloween to kids in your child’s class or at a party.

Today I have another take on the Halloween Snack Bag but this time it’s for you! Continue reading

Getting the Story Straight

Welcome back! Today I have another video for you and a surprise sale to tell you about at the end of the post.

On Monday I took you on a tour of my album from our trip to Disneyland in 2012. You saw the processes I’d put in place, and the products I’d set aside at the beginning to help in the creation of a cohesive album. A more complete story of our trip rather than an album full of photos and captions, if you will.

There were a LOT of missing stories! There were missing dates on many layouts. And then there was the Ultimate Scrapbooker Oops, two layouts about the same story. Same photos. Different colour schemes.

Ugh!

Today I show you how I fixed that. Take a look. Continue reading

Inside Look

Make it Monday - pinkWelcome to another Make It Monday!

You may be coming here from Alice’s site where she tells us that broken bones can lead to creative scrapbooking. Hmmm … I’m intrigued, how about you?

Today I am bringing you Part II of my series on album Organization – Layouts to Memory Books. In Part I you saw my dirty little secret – stacks and stacks of layouts with no albums! I’d love to say that I have made a huge dent already and my dining room table is mostly cleared off but that simply wouldn’t be true. I am amazingly good at letting other things distract me from tough jobs!

In an attempt to make that first dent, I decided to tackle just one album. An album with a theme, not a yearly chronicle or anything massive like that! So, here’s a look at the album about our trip to Disneyland in 2012. Continue reading

Trick or Treat? It’s Up to You

Welcome to the Scrapping our Stash monthly Blog Hop!

Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop

You may be arriving from Lee-Anne’s site. If not, don’t worry. Keep reading and simply follow the link at the end of this post to join in on the rest of the hop.

As a mom I refuse to entertain any talk about Halloween until the calendar rolls over into October. As an Etsy shop owner however, I need to be more open to forward thinking shoppers! Boo Humbug! So, for the past few weeks I’ve been madly immersing myself in all things black, orange, and decidedly spooky. Continue reading
