For Your St Patrick’s Day Feast

Words on Wednesday

Welcome to Words on Wednesday for March 16, 2016.

Tomorrow is the day that the entire world (or maybe it’s just those of us in the Americas that miss our homeland and try in vain to hold onto anything remotely resembling Old County Traditions) wears green, drinks green beer, and generally goes green crazy. As I am a purebred Scot, I of course embrace this holiday for all it’s worth. In my own way that is. I don’t hold with Leprechaun traps (leave the poor guys alone) and don’t give my kids chocolate gold coins (as IF they need more chocolate in their diet) but I will, and do, make Irish stew and drink a Guinness!

On Monday I mentioned in my video about making colcannon which is mashed potatoes with cabbage and bacon. I know, it sounds a bit weird and when I first read the recipe I was unsure too. But it got rave reviews from my kids … my KIDS people! So it now comes out every year.

Here’s the recipe … Continue reading

Wearin’ O’ The Green

Make it Monday - March Welcome to Make It Monday for March 14, 2016.

Otherwise known as Pi Day! What pie will you be having for dessert tonight? 🙂

My graphic is a bit deceiving as this is not a blog circle today. We weren’t organized in time this week! Sorry. I’ve had a stuffed up head for a week and a half and it’s really getting in the way of clear thinking!!

For my share with you today I have a card to get you in the mood for an upcoming celebration.

St. Patrick’s Day!

Take a look at my super quick video. Continue reading

How Do You Do It All?

Words on Wednesday

For today’s Words on Wednesday, I’d love to hear what issues are pressing on your heart and mind right now. What keeps you up at night? What lists swirl in your brain when the lights go out?

There is a great scene in the movie “I Don’t Know How She Does It”, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, that always comes to mind when I am lying in bed going over my to do list for the next day. It’s actually in the trailer – take a look.

A Card For Every Bunny This Easter

Make it Monday - pink Welcome to Make It Monday for March 7, 2016!

(On a Monday too! Go me!)

You may be arriving from Kristie’s site where she is sharing all occasion cards without worrying about how many and which sentiments to use! That sounds awesome!

At the end of this post is another link that will let you continue on our creative circle until you’ve seen everyone’s ideas this week.

Today I am getting into the Easter spirit and showing you the cards that will be landing in my Etsy Shop later today. It was totally my plan to have them ready for you to shop when this post goes live but … life, in the form of a massive sinus cold and a basketball team wrap up party at our house put a damper on that plan. Once I boot the kids off to school today and have a good rest, I will get those posted to my shop. For now, please enjoy these new card creations. Continue reading

LOAD216 Days 27 – 29 Round Up Plus a Recap of the Month

Something a tiny bit different for this week’s round up of my LOAD216 layouts. I filmed them! The idea came from seeing Paige Evans’s layouts from 2015 (wow! what an amazing artist!! Honestly, if you want to be blown away you have to watch this video!)

And before we get to MY video, here are the last three layouts of the month.

Day 27 – Peeking Out

LOAD27 - Peeking Out by Alison Day Designs

This was our last geography prompt so I pulled out another map paper (this one is Jillibean Soup) and got to work. I must say, I was a bit surprised that I had so many map themed papers in my stash! Guess I love to travel or wish I could do it more often! Continue reading

Reflections on LOAD216

Words on Wednesday

You know that feeling after you complete a project, or cross the finish line at a race you’ve been training for? It’s a combination of elation, fatigue, and grief. That’s how I’m feeling right now.

I spent all of February participating in LOAD216 and now I’m not quite sure what to do next. Oh don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of things I need to do! Laundry, dishes, that pesky thing called “find a job so we can eat next month” … the list is extensive. But creatively I am blocked.

What the heck is LOAD216?

Using Both Sides of Your Paper

Make it Monday - pinkI know, I know, it’s Tuesday now …  I swear I started this post with the intention of it going live yesterday. But … yesterday was one of those days where nothing seemed to work. As you will see in the video below, even my ability to glue paper to other pieces of paper escaped me yesterday. I think it was the Leap Day. My brain just knew that day wasn’t supposed to be there and threw a fit!

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!!

The idea for this blog post came to me over a month ago. I was watching some older Shimelle Laine Sketch to Scrapbook videos and one in particular made me sit up straight and take notice. It also made me bookmark the video, the corresponding blog post, and a piece of acetate for me to try out her idea with.

Curious? Check out the video below. Continue reading
