For today’s Words on Wednesday, I’d love to hear what issues are pressing on your heart and mind right now. What keeps you up at night? What lists swirl in your brain when the lights go out?
There is a great scene in the movie “I Don’t Know How She Does It”, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, that always comes to mind when I am lying in bed going over my to do list for the next day. It’s actually in the trailer – take a look.
I just love how the words appear on the walls! Does that not sum up every mother out there? Working or not? I’m not going to get into the whole “to work or not to work” argument right now. That is something MY husband and I are constantly battling about. Finances say “work, damn it!” Heart and soul says “be at home – you, the kids, your husband, your mental health is so much better off!” Hard to figure out who to listen to sometimes.
But that’s a rabbit hole we are not going to dive into right now!
I mean, who knows if we’d ever come out the other side of that! Am I right?
Which brings me back to my original question: what keeps you up at night?
Tell me in the comments and I’ll address it in a future Words on Wednesday.
If you are able to sleep well every night, please share your tricks for that too! Seriously, you may be able to bottle it and sell it for millions!!
On my task list today – grocery shop, write blog post, figure out Daughter #3’s birthday party, track down photos I sent to London Drugs weeks ago that seem to have gone AWOL, cook dinner, get Daughter #2 ready for dance, drive to a School Board planning session with Daughter #1 and one of her friends, hope husband gets the coach of the year award at the Basketball Awards night (although, secretly hope he doesn’t as I will miss it because I’m at said School Board meeting), drop Daughter #1’s friend off at home, arrive home late, tired, and ready for a glass of wine. Oh wait, I’ve got a bad sinus cold at the moment so alcohol is probably not a good idea.
Who am I kidding? Wine is always a good idea!
Have a good rest of your Wednesday everyone!
Remember to leave those comments below.
My to do lists look a lot like yours, what with our parallel lives and everything. I’m kinda glad skiing is over now, because even though it’s been a great activity for our whole family, it is quite a commitment time wise and energy wise. Ailis is also involved in a school play right now that takes up a lot of her time, which just makes me realize how much I rely on her. She takes such good care of her little sister that I don’t have a whole lot to do! The last thing that kept me up at night was thinking about a toxic coworker. I’ve mostly dealt with that situation, but I still have bad dreams occasionally. It did cross my mind repeatedly that I might be better off quitting and staying home, but financially I decided I had to just suck it up and deal with it.
Anyway, sleep, well wine definitely helps! Maybe more exercise would help? Oh I usually read before bed, too, and if I have a good book on the go I try to hit the hay early so I can get into it more. Speaking of good books, have you read “What Alice Forgot” by Liane Moriarty? I could totally relate to that one, and I know you would too!
