The girls at Practical Scrappers have a ton of gorgeous interpretations of our own Liz Chidester‘s sketch for July. Have you checked them out? Aren’t they amazing?!
Here’s the sketch.
I think I mentioned in my last post how I don’t do well with circular elements in the background, right? Well, I found a work around for this layout.
I used a doily!
Not a doily stamp or a doily die cut … an actual doily!
I found this in the Clearance bin at Michael’s last year and this just seemed like the right time to get it on a page. With so many new products being showcased right now because of the Summer CHA (Craft and Hobby Association) Tradeshow, I am feeling the need to whittle down my stash any way I can to justify any new purchases that I may will make. 🙂 To see some of the new lines please visit my Pinterest board.
Here are some detail shots.
I used two different letter stickers (Echo Park and Bella Blvd) plus a chipboard word sticker from Heidi Swapp to create this fun title. I am glad that my dwindling stash of letter stickers is forcing me to get creative with my titles. On pages like this where the subject matter is light and playful, mixing things up compliments and even emphasizes the playfulness.
I used several different washi tapes behind the photo and the grey one along the top and bottom of the layout. To ground this embellishment cluster I repeated the bright pink washi tape and then used turquoise in my accents instead of bringing in more of the turquoise washi.
To extend this cluster a bit I used a border sticker from the Crate Paper The Pier collection and a long word phrase sticker from Bella Blvd’s Sand and Surf collection. Two great lines to document all your summer photos!!
Thanks for stopping by today. I really appreciate your visit and invite you to leave a comment. I do try to personally respond to each comment so if you have a question, I’d love to answer it for you!
Another awesome layout! I love the color palette, the picture, and all the super fun embellishments – that doily is just fab!!
Thanks so much! It felt good to finally get that doily on a page!!
