Gossamer Blue July Sketch

Welcome to August!

Now let’s talk about July!! 🙂

Yes, I am a few days late posting this but hey, it’s summer and water fun, playdates and staying cool (not something you can do in front of a hot laptop) take precedence!! But today I am sacrificing my cool-ness to get this out to you.

Early in July I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email from Stephanie Howell of Gossamer Blue asking me to be the customer spotlight for their July Sketch. Um, wow! And, yes please!!

Here’s the sketch.

And here’s my interpretation.

You Are My Greatest Adventure by Alison Day

I used a larger photo than the sketch called for and then added another photo – essentially a close up of my daughters – to reinforce the subject matter. Instead of having some patterned paper on display in the background I decided to use the cut file from the downloads included in our kit each month. The dark grey card stock from the kit really helps all the other elements stand out.

The Thickers provided in the kit didn’t fit my design for my title so I used this die cut sentiment from the Add-On kit. These 3 girlies of mine are definitely an adventure so it seemed appropriate!

To create a similar cluster at the top of my page as the one in the sketch I used an off-cut from the blue Traci Reed paper I used at the bottom of the page, angled it slightly and then started adding little bits and pieces until I got a grouping I was happy with.

There is a sheet of pink patterned paper in the kit that has all sorts of inspirational sayings and quotes on it. I cut out a couple then traced over them with my journaling pen to highlight the words and phrases that added to my own journaling. I love the way it looks on the finished page.

Sometimes you have an idea and when you try it out it doesn’t work. This was not one of those times! This turned out better than it looked in my head!

This red die cut is from the printable sheet. layered with some flowers and a button and some enamel dots, it’s the perfect little cluster. And something that the sketch had too! Always good to get back to the sketch!!

It was a lot of fun playing with this sketch. A huge thanks to Stephanie and the Gossamer Blue team for highlighting me. Feels purty good if I do say so myself! 🙂 Okay, off to go stand in front of a fan for a bit now!!

Hope you all are having a good week. See you again soon!
