A few days ago, the prompt for LOAD (Layout a Day) was to use only black and white products. I believe the myth we were busting was that all scrapbook pages have to be colourful. Well … I tried. I really tried to restrict myself to black and white. But the pink accents kept jumping into my hands.
No really. I would look down and think “how did that pink label get into my hand?” LOL!
Then I remembered that the wonderful ladies over at SWAT have a challenge this month to use black and white plus one! Bingo!! I embraced the pink, said a little apology to Lain for not following her prompt to the letter, and created this.
The chalkboard paper was in one of my Gossamer Blue kits from a few months back but it had a border of blue stripes which was fighting against my photos a bit so I cut it off. Then I went through all my black and white papers (yes, I sort them by colour!) until I found one I liked as a border.
I matted my photos onto grey card stock and then added the black and white heart paper layer for a bit of interest and contrast. Plus, how can you not want to use hearts when you look at that smile?!
I am calling this layout ‘Stars and Back’ as using the whole phrase ‘I Love You To the Stars and Back’ is too much of a mouthful! While I DO love this little imp to the stars and back, I chose this title because that is also how my daughter feels about this particular stuffy. To make the title I traced one of the journaling cards from a Dear Lizzy set with a white gel pen.
I also used that white pen for my journaling.
One last detail shot to show you is this one. The paper came with the banners printed on it and this is where those sneaky pink accents kept popping up! These little roses basically jumped out of the packaging and onto the page!! Love it though.
Okay, that’s my layout! I haven’t shared a ton of my layouts from LOAD with you but I promise I have made a layout every day this month (occasionally more than one but I can’t share those yet!) If you are interested in seeing my layouts they are all on Flickr. Just pop over and take a look. 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Don’t forget about the Stash Busting blog hop going on – my post is here or you can start at the beginning at Practical Scrappers.
