Scrapping our Stash: Practical Scrappers Blog Hop

Welcome to the Practical Scrappers Blog Hop where we are Scrapping our Stash.

This month we are focusing on scrapping our Valentine’s stash, or at least stash that has to do with love.  We are thrilled to once again have Kiwi Lane Designs sponsoring this month! Kiwi Lane Designs creates templates that help take the frustration out of scrapbooking!  And one lucky winner today will get a border set and an accessory set from Kiwi Lane. Details on how you can win this prize can be found here!

You should have arrived here from Jennifer Haggerty‘s blog. Today’s list of blogs to visit is quite long so I thank you for choosing to visit mine today.

Okay, on to my project.

While I do have a few specifically Valentine’s themed products in my stash, what I find I have more of is pink papers. With 3 girls in my house to scrap, pink shows up a LOT! My girls are also big fans of decorating for any holiday at all so I decided to marry all my pink scraps with their love of holiday decor! Check it out.

Heart garland for Valentines day

They were pretty excited to see it when they got home from school today!

Here’s how I put it together.

I started by grabbing my scrap drawer and a small basket I have with extra die cuts and punched shapes in it.

I took out all the pink papers and die cut hearts and then went through them to make sure their colours were harmonious. Then I started die cutting more hearts. I have a set of nesting metal dies from my Stampin’ Up days that were perfect for this project.

Once all the hearts were cut I found a thin pink ribbon in my stash and started laying it out with the hearts to see how it would look.

It was coming together nicely so I got busy attaching the hearts to the ribbon. I was trying to keep it simple so I just stapled everything together.

Once it was all assembled and hung on a door in my house (from living room to family room – a.k.a. the Disaster Zone!!) I embellished it with some K&Co Valentines chipboard shapes I’d picked up recently. I was going to use just a few but once I got started I decided to completely bust that bit of stash! Feels so good to empty an entire package!

Here are a couple of close up shots.

Now it’s your turn! Bust out your pink, your hearts and your Valentine’s themed products and make something to bring some love into your life!
