An Art Journal Page for Practical Scrappers

Happy Tuesday! I’ve got a lot to share with you today starting with my latest foray into art journaling.

One of the changes we’ve made over at Practical Scrappers this year is to introduce a regular Art Journaling feature. This month’s inspiration is a quote from Vincent Van Gogh.

“The way to know life is to love many things.” – Vincent Van Gogh

Love Many Things - an Art Journal page by Alison Day

I already had my base paint layers done so I started thinking about texture. I added some Tim Holtz tissue paper and a doily then painted around the edge with bronze Distress Paint. Next, I went raiding my stash of stickers to find some that represented my interests. Family, photography, travel, coffee (keeps all of going, doesn’t it?) I really wanted to add a wine bottle or glass but couldn’t find one … maybe I’ll add one later. Anyway, the word tickets have been hanging out in my stash for far too long so on they went!

I decided to write the Van Gogh quote onto my page with some India ink and a paint brush to bring everything together. It helps unify all the different images and words! My last step was to colour around the edge with some black Gelato. The added visual weight works well with the bronze to frame everything.

Now it’s your turn. Create a page using the quote as your inspiration and share it with us using the inLinkz linky on the Practical Scrappers blog. Can’t wait to see what you make!!

If you liked this post, say thanks by sharing it with your friends.
