Thank You Teachers

Can you believe it is the end of the school year already?! I swear that each year goes by faster and faster.

Last night I realized that while I had remembered to buy gifts for my girls’ teachers, I still needed to wrap them and make their cards.

Whoops!

Yes, I am that last minute Mom!! 🙂

So here’s what I pulled out of my … crafty little self last night.

If the card bases look familiar, they should! I used a couple of the ones I made for this post over at Practical Scrappers. Gotta say, I LOVE having a stack of bases ready to go!

Card #1 is for my middle daughter’s Grade 1 teacher. When I was looking for an embellishment, I dug out these flash cards from my stash. How perfect are they?! Also considering that the gift is an apple shaped paper weight (thank you Pier1 clearance section!!)

This was such a simple card to throw together. All the hard work was done earlier (creating the base) so all I had to do was add the letter stickers, the flash card and the pearl embellishments. For an additional hit of bling, I added some red stickles to the apple on the flash card.

Card #2 (for my eldest’s Grade 3 teacher) was basically a copy of card #1 just in green. I did realize once I had placed the letter stickers that I had to find a different placement for the flashcard on this one. No problem! That was an easy fix.

Again, some red stickles on the apple added interest to the card.

These little boxes contain the apple paper weight. And yes, I made them. They were super simple! I swear!!

I searched for heavier weight patterned paper then scored down each side at 4″. That gave me a 4″ square in the middle which I inserted a 4″ square of chipboard to give the box extra stability. Does that make sense? The bottom of the box (once constructed) has an extra base in it to support the paper weight.

The side flaps were trimmed to 2″ then the corners were cut on the diagonal. I think it gives a slight “take-out box” look to it which is fun!

They were looking a little plain so I dug in my stash and found this rick rack ribbon to dress up the top.

Hey, lady, I feel like I haven’t “seen” you in ages!!! Would you believe we’re doing the parallel lives thing again? I scrambled yesterday to buy presents AND make cards! But my cameras were all dead, so I didn’t take any pictures to post, alas! Anyway, it all worked out in the end, but I’m a bit pooped today. Summer, ugh! Well, I’ve got to work still, so the two older ones will be in day camp for July, then hopefully some time off in August. But that’s about it, no plans to jet set or anything crazy. Maybe Barkerville! Hey, why don’t you bring the girls up one weekend and give them a history lesson? Love your cards, ‘specially the flash card bit – cool! And I can’t believe you made the boxes! You know you can use the cameo to do that for you, haha! Hugs, Roxy.

ha, ha Roxy! My Cameo cuts lots of things but I honestly didn’t even think of it for the boxes. Doh!
Good to hear from you Mama!! Barkerville was so much fun when I was a kid. Would love to take the girls but not sure it’ll happen. I tend to work weekends these days. 🙁
Thanks for stopping by to visit.
