New Design Team at SWAT – Blog Hop with Prizes!!

red-white-blue

Welcome to the first S.W.A.T Design Team Blog Hop

Today S.W.A.T is welcoming our new Design Team with a Blog Hop & Challenge!

It’s hard to believe that my first 6 month term is over. It seems like just yesterday we started on this adventure!
I am really enjoying being a part of this team. I was honoured to be asked to join at the inauguration of this challenge blog and am pleased to be here for another 6 months … at least!! I’ve warned Lanette that she may never be able to get rid of me!! The “girls” are such fun to chat with on Facebook and SO creative! Lanette’s challenges push me and stretch me in all the right creative ways!!
For this hop challenge we were given this color palette:

And here is what I made.

I am not American so creating something patriotic just didn’t feel right to me. I am Canadian and while I can happily embrace the Red and White … the Blue was giving me a bit of trouble. That was, until I threw out the notion of only creating something for the 4th of July! I’m sure if you’re American and reading this you can see your way to forgiving me!! 🙂

Last week we said good bye to our school secretary. She’d been with the school for 4 years which may not seem like much but when you take into account that our family has also been at the school for 4 years, you’ll understand how hard it was for me to say good bye to her. A special card was needed and since I had a stack of bases ready to go (see this post) I used the red one to help me meet the colour criteria for today’s challenge.

Another designer friend of mine supplied the cut file to create the triangles in my card base.  She has graciously made the triangle cut file available for FREE download on her blog – check it out here.

Clearly I adapted it to fit a standard sized card (it’s a 12″ x 12″ cut file)! The white triangles then gave me places to add some blue accents. Buttons, stamps and some pen stitches gave the card all the finishing touches it needed. Oh, as well as a little sparkle in the form of Stickles!!
