This week’s drill at SWAT is right up my alley. A Use It Up drill!! I have been digging deep into my stash all year, finding and using lots of lovely supplies long buried and forgotten. With Summer CHA over and new products hitting the store shelves, the temptation to add lots of new gorgeous goodies to my stash is strong (and I may or may not have caved a tiny bit!!) but now more than ever it is important to look into my stash first. There are so many gorgeous supplies in there! I am completely guilty of STILL hoarding beautiful papers, stickers, and brads etc, waiting for that “perfect layout” to use them on.
Say what?!
I know, right. NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN!! Meanwhile the manufacturers are doing their utmost to put out even more beautiful, hoardable, products. So, today I dug deep – really deep – and found some old Jenni Bowlin journaling stickers, some old washi tape (not really a sticker but still stick-y!!) and some old Sassafras flower stickers to create this layout.
I also pulled out some older papers too! The back ground paper is from Teresa Collins’ Vintage Finds line, the yellow is from Studio Calico’s Hey Days and the green school themed one is a scrap from my scrap drawer that has been around so long I don’t remember who made it any more! The Teresa Collins paper was definitely one of those so-in-love-with-this-I-don’t-want-to-use-it papers. Feels SO GOOD to use it!!
The photos are ones my daughter’s teacher took when my Mother-in-law went to visit the classroom. They’re not the greatest photos and they got a little man handled but the story needed to be told and that’s more important than perfect photos!
We are throwing down an extra challenge to our SWAT readers today. Besides digging into your sticker stash, we’re asking that you also use a sketch. This lovely sketch from Guest Sketch Designer Jennifer Campbell (I have a cousin named Jennifer Campbell … not this Jennifer Campbell though 🙂 ).
Super cute, right? Can’t wait to see what you do with it!
Here are some close up shots of the details of my layout.
… er … well, this is where the close up WOULD be if I could get them to load properly. So, while I’m trying to figure out what is going on (I think I may be maxing out my storage!!) please head on over to my Flikr Gallery to see those close ups. Thanks.
Have a great weekend everyone! For more inspiration and the occasional funny scrappy related cartoon, like me on Facebook by clicking the like box to your right. Thanks!
Fun layout and great pics! Love the stash of stickers used.Perfect for the photos.
So nice to see you! What an adorable & clever use of old stash. I’m afraid stickers are a toughie for me but needless to say I still have a bin of them hoarded, lol. It does feel good to use up the things that make us happy :~)
Lovely layout!! I’ve been doing the same thing, using up the old to make way (justify) purchasing the new 😉
Great example for the challenge! Love how you clustered and incorporated the stickers!
