This drill was right up my alley as I have been using my stash almost exclusively since January 1st of this year! Our mandate was to “dig deep, pull out that paper from years ago that you “just had to have” and make it trendy and new!”
Here’s how I answered the challenge.
I took a piece of red card stock from my stash and ran it through my silhouette to create the bubble template. For added interest and to further dive into my stash, I covered each circle (the insides of the bubbles) with various colours of washi tape. Some of these washi tapes have been in my stash for about 4 years! I realize my photos cover up most of these circles but that’s okay. I know that underneath them is a serious amount of washi tape that was previously languishing in my stash!!
If you’re curious, here’s a link to the circle template that I bought from the Silhouette store – background lace. I modified it somewhat and if you are interested in my modified cut file please leave your email address in the comments and I’ll send it to you.
Okay, now for some detail images.
My title says it all. We went on the Tea Cups every day we were at Disneyland! My youngest fell in love with them and since it was one of the few rides she would actually go on, we indulged her! The placement of my title and journaling block left a bit of trapped white space which I wasn’t all that happy about. All my Disney pages have these Mickey gems on them so I added two here to solve the problem.
All my Disney themed accessories and embellishments were purchased last year from Scrapbook.com and I’ve been waiting to make a layout about my youngest’s love affair with the Tea Cups ride so I could use this stacked tea cups die cut! Isn’t it the cutest and most perfect accent for a layout of this sort? The kit I bought is no longer available but if you are planning a trip to Disneyland or have older Disney pictures to scrap, this kit from Scrapbook.com is comparable. It actually has a ton more product in it and since it is on clearance you are getting it at about the same price I paid! Talk about a steal!!
The three pictures on this layout were taken on different days. To make that clear I punched three tabs from scrap card stock and stamped the date the photo was taken on each. The addition of another Mickey gem – this time in red – plus another little word card finishes off this embellishment cluster.
One of the sheets I’ve slowly been using up in this album was full of little phrases. This “Again, Again” one was just perfect for my page!
Now it’s your turn! Dig into your stash, pull out those papers you just couldn’t leave the store without but you’ve since been “saving for a special occasion”, and USE THEM! Mix in some new product to make your layout feel current. Some popular trends you could incorporate are die cutting, misting/paint splatters, arrows, chevrons, speech bubbles, or mixed media. Link up your finished project at S.W.A.T by April 25th to be eligible to win this incredible American Crafts Prize pack.
I can’t wait to see what you come up with!!
What a fun and happy layout! Love the circle background and the coffee cups!!
