Happy Monday everyone! I’m back with another layout using the latest Let’s Get Sketchy sketch. It’s Team B’s turn to reveal this week but I am playing along and recorded a little video showing my process putting this layout together. Before we get to that though, here’s the sketch we are following this week.
Here’s a look at what I came up with.
Before I show you my detail shots, here’s the video I promised.
As you can see from the finished layout, those chipboard button owls and the pink pompom trim didn’t make it on there. It was feeling too busy so I left them off. And that’s totally okay! Just because you pull something out to use on a layout, doesn’t mean you have to use it! There are no Scrapbook Police laying in wait to fine you for under or over embellishing!!
This wasn’t on camera, but I added the date to this journaling sticker after I stuck it down. I’d highly recommend writing your journaling on before you stick it down. Especially if you are using pop dots!
Here you can see the journaling notes. This is not the only layout about this party so I’m totally okay keeping the journaling light – sticks with the overall feel of the layout too. This is a light hearted layout about the fun things that went on at my daughter’s party so heavy journaling (and by heavy I mean deep, sentimental type writing) would be out of place here.
There you go, another layout in the bag. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to watch my video. I appreciate all comments and if you’re playing along this week please let me know. I’d love to stop by YOUR site and see how you interpreted this sketch.
This is the last “official” sketch for the month of April at Let’s Get Sketchy (next Saturday we have something special planned!) so if you’ve been thinking about trying some of the sketches yourself, now is the time. This month’s sponsor is a $20 GC from Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits so get those layouts in for your chance to win. Remember you need to complete 3 out of the 4 sketches this month to be eligible. Good luck!
Have a wonderful week!
I love your layout Alison! The owl embellishments are so adorable and I love your patterned papers! Yeah for older product! You’d never know. Love, love the video!
Thanks Debbie. Glad you liked the video! Thanks for taking the time to watch it.
Great page Allison, love the papers and embellies you used!
Thanks so much Brenshevia!
Great take Alison! Such a fun layout!
Thanks Tracy, it was fun to make!
This is so cute, Alison! Love the mix of papers and the cute owls. Has your daughter read the book “Hoot” by Carl Hiaasen? My daughter loved it, she loves owls also.
Thanks Michelle. I don’t think she’s read that one. I’ll have to look it up for her. Thanks for the suggestion!
Great job Alison – the owls are super cute!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving some love Carla!
