July 2015 Gossamer Blue Kit
So very late but as they say, better late than never, right?
I sort of live by that mantra so I’m hoping you agree with me!
My July scrapbook kit from Gossamer Blue arrived while I was away on holiday (an epic 12 day, 3400 km road trip that I’ll be scrapping about this month so watch for those layouts). When we got back I was too distracted trying to finish setting up my newly painted and reorganized Scrap Cave so the box just sat there on my desk. Every now and then I would look longingly at it but I knew I had to open it “on camera” (no sneaks allowed in my books!) Well, I finally stopped playing with my new toys (see this post) and filmed it for you guys.
Here it is.
So far I’ve completed one layout, that I will be sharing with you on Monday, and I have another started on my desk. I picked up some photos yesterday so I’m all set to create up a storm. As always, when they are done they will be uploaded to my Flickr gallery.
Oh, and my August kit is now here so I’m itching to get into that!! Must. Use. July’s. First!
That’s it for today. Have a good Wednesday. I’ll be back tomorrow with a monochromatic card. Even though you’re only using one colour, don’t think it will make your project boring. I’ll show you how to get visual and textural interest with ease!
Using a Kit to The Last Drop
You may be arriving here from Connie’s site. Love birthdays + cakes + card making + things a bit wonky? Then check out her post by clicking here!
Today I want to introduce you to something that I’ve been having fun with this past week. A decision and purchase I made last month that I already know was well worth it and WAY overdue!
I subscribed to another kit club. This time, the Simon Says Stamp monthly card kit. You know you love something when you start using it right away. When you rip into the package, ooh and aah over the contents, and the next thing you know you’ve got a finished card in your hands! When you use it all up.
Kids show their love for your dinner offerings by cleaning their plates and asking for seconds, right? Well, if could have asked for a second helping of the Simon Says Stamp August Card Kit I would have! Continue reading
Adding Texture With a Stencil
Hi everyone! I’m back with another page share.
I’m still making my way through layouts I made in March for the Paper Issues Crop Challenges. Still can’t believe I never shared them at the time! Just goes to show what a crazy busy schedule we had back then.
Ever felt your projects lack interest or feel flat?
I’m not talking literally flat. I think it’s safe to say that most of our layouts these days have a lot of dimension. Whether you get that from layers of paper, chipboard accents, enamel dots, brads or buttons, using dimensional adhesive to pop up elements, or ribbon, there are a ton of choices to add dimension and interest to your projects.
But what if you add those things and your layout still feels a bit … boring?
Today I’d like to share another way to add texture.
Stencils!
No Photo? No Problem!
Have you ever run into the problem of wanting to scrapbook a story but not having a photo to go along with it? What have you done? Left it?
I’d like to challenge you to create a layout, despite not having photos.
Want an example?
Is It Too Early For This?
Today we are sharing some (wait for it) Back to School project ideas! You may be arriving here from Melissa’s site where she is sharing a bright layout for back to school.
Gasp! Is it really that time already?
Around here I’d say no. Summer holidays are only half over. My kids are most definitely still in full-on Summer mode. Having just returned from a two week road trip with the family, I’m also ready for more rest and relaxation before having to think about the stress and busy-ness that a new school year brings.
But in case you’re in the mood to scrap some photos from previous school years, or hoping to get a jump start on next year by prepping some layout bases, here’s one of mine that I have turned into a sketch for you.
Add Interest With Shaped Photos
I know what you’re thinking; “NOOOO!!! Not circle cut photos!”
Don’t panic!
I haven’t turned back the clock to fancy edged scissors, sticker sneeze and every photo cut into a different shape.
This is the updated way to create some fun, some interest and, in my case, emphasize the subject matter by using a background die cut with photos peeking through.
