Today we are sharing some (wait for it) Back to School project ideas! You may be arriving here from Melissa’s site where she is sharing a bright layout for back to school.
Gasp! Is it really that time already?
Around here I’d say no. Summer holidays are only half over. My kids are most definitely still in full-on Summer mode. Having just returned from a two week road trip with the family, I’m also ready for more rest and relaxation before having to think about the stress and busy-ness that a new school year brings.
But in case you’re in the mood to scrap some photos from previous school years, or hoping to get a jump start on next year by prepping some layout bases, here’s one of mine that I have turned into a sketch for you.
The simple grid allows for three 3.5×5″ photos plus plenty of room for your title and journaling. And room for fun school themed embellishments too!
Here’s the sketch – it’s in a jpeg so just right click it to save it to your computer.
Instead of writing directly onto the patterned paper, you could just as easily have a 3.5×5″ journaling card here. I’m totally okay with the writing not being super visible in this photo – in real life you can read it and that’s what counts, right?
I haven’t added all the little embellishment bits into the sketch but you can see here how a 3×3″ card is a good starting point for a cluster of buttons, chipboard stickers, and other bits and pieces.
The flair is an old Two Peas in a Bucket exclusive and I horde these now! Really shouldn’t, I know, but the demise of Two Peas was so sad for the Scrapbooking Community. All the papers are from an older Echo Park school-themed line (Paper and Glue) which means they all work together. I can’t remember where the buttons or enamel dots are from though. Could just be my stash. You see, I made this layout over a year ago and never shared it with you all. Better late than never though I guess.
Okay, now you’re off to Beth’s site. She is sharing how she is getting her bulletin board ready to motivate her students for the new school year.
I hope you enjoy our little hop. Happy Monday everyone!
Such a sweet page! I love grids and I really like how you added the embellies to the corner. Thanks for the sketch!
Thanks Kelli! I’ve been having fun creating sketches so I’m glad you like it!
Well I love your page, but I especially love your sketch!!! How did you do that?!?! And yes, it is too early to be thinking “Back to School ” – I haven’t even looked at supply lists or figured out what clothes and shoes the kids need or anything, but then again that’s nothing new. Hopefully I’ll have something figured out by labor day!
LOL! I know Roxy, the school supplies are all ready (thank you EduPac!) but the clothes … Yikes! Marley has grown at least 2 inches since June so needs new everything!! It’s going to break the bank for sure.
So glad we don’t go back until Sept – looking at all the first day pics in my newsfeed makes me so glad we’ve still got a month left of summer!
As for the sketch, I did it in my Silhouette software. Actually really easy (shhh, don’t tell!)
