All Ready for Mickey and Friends

Make it Monday with Alison Day Designs2.png Welcome to Make It Monday!

We are arriving back in port today from our week long Disney Cruise to Alaska but I didn’t want to leave you hanging. I’m writing this post well in advance so can’t comment on the cruise as of yet. I’ll leave that for this week’s Words on Wednesday!

Today I wanted to share a little something special I made for the girls before we left Vancouver.

When we went to Disneyland in 2012 I made them each a special book for collecting autographs from all the characters we were going to meet. I can’t find my photos of those books (I think they may have been lost in the Great Hard Drive Failure of 2012) but here’s a shot of the girls holding them.

Crafting On The Go IS Possible!

Hi everyone! Welcome to Saturday!

I am currently on board the Disney Wonder, slowly making my way back to Vancouver. Even though I know how jam packed with activities the cruise companies like to keep us, I decided I might need a tiny bit extra to keep me busy. I’m not a huge fan of trivia games, bridge tournaments or a lot of the other types of activities offered on cruise ships! So, before I left, I packed a kit of supplies to keep me crafting. Christmas Market season is fast approaching so I need to restock my card displays!

Take a look at what I put together with my current Simon Says Stamp card kit, as well as some of my older ones I’ve yet to touch.

It’s hard for me to pack light! At least I’ll have plenty of options, right? Continue reading

One Week In and Still Going Strong

WOW Summer 2016 Edition

I survived!

As any stay at home parent can attest, summer holidays are really a survival game. Can you survive two months of constantly being surrounded by your kids, their friends, their mess, and their demands, without becoming a raging alcoholic?

I am here to say, so far so good!

There have been some tense moments, I’ll not lie. For instance, dropping the hot queso dip all over myself and the floor at Taco del Mar. Fun times! Or, even better, closing the dressing room door on my youngest daughter’s fingers! Yep. That felt good!

You know what made it even better?

They both happened on the SAME BLOODY DAY! Yep. Good times!

But I .. we .. made it through. And not even a drop of wine touched these lips! Swear to God!

Okay, that may have been because my insides have been acting up so much lately that I’m actively avoiding anything that could remotely set me off! But hey, a win is a win is a win. Right?

Golden Wedding Card

Make it Monday with Alison Day Designs2.pngWelcome to Make It Monday!

Today is a very special day for my family. We are embarking on a cruise!

My husbands parents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary by treating their children to a Cruise. A Disney cruise no less!

Wow! How lucky are we?

Such a special occasion called for a very special card which I was only too happy to make. It’s not every day you reach such a milestone after all! Your 50th wedding anniversary is called your Golden anniversary so … Continue reading

Want to See What a Finished Album Looks Like?

Happy Saturday everyone!

I am so excited to share this with you. A finished scrapbook album!

Say what?!

I know, it’s a mythological creature for sure (at least it is in my house) but I swear to you they actually exist. And I have the proof right here in this video!

I promised photos of the previously unshared pages and links to ones I’d already shared. Well, as it turns out, I didn’t share too many! So here are all the pages in the order they appear in the album. Enjoy! Continue reading

Life Lessons Summer Camp – Initial Thoughts

WOW Summer 2016 Edition

Yes, you read that right. This IS Words on Wednesday, but for the next nine weeks or so I am going to be bringing you into my world of summer with kids!  In a moment of what may turn out to be complete insanity, I decided to run my own summer camp for my girls in an attempt to teach them a few life skills sadly lacking in today’s society. Crazy right?

What kinds of life skills?

Glad you asked! Here’s my break down.

Week One – Travel

Week Two – Traveling etiquette and money matters

Week Three – Cleaning & Organizing

Week Four – Cooking

Week Five – Sewing

Week Six – Self Independence

Week Seven – Laundry

Week Eight – More Needlework (the girls are away at their grandparents this week but I am hoping to enlist Grandma to help teach them knitting and crocheting)

Week Nine – More Cooking Continue reading

It’s a Red, White, and Blue Kind of Day

Make it Monday with Alison Day Designs2.pngHappy 4th of July!

I know many of my readers are from the States so I wish you a safe and happy Independence Day. Up here in Canada we had our own National Birthday celebrations just the other day. We consider our celebrations pretty awesome but I know that you guys below the 49th do things at a whole other level. So much fun!

As your nations birthday falls on one on my regular Make It Monday posts I wanted to make something special for you. A patriotic birthday card if you will! So Happy Birthday America!

Red White and Blue Birthday Wishes card by Alison Day Designs

I used some Echo Park 6×6 papers from my stash and a ribbon that I do believe came around a Paper Issues package. Never throw anything away! The stars are absolutely ancient! They are Studio Calico chipboard stars purchased on a whim and hardly touched. Don’t judge, we all do it!

That’s it! Go enjoy your holiday!

If you’re not off today, my condolences. Just a regular ol’ Monday then. This too shall pass!

Have a great week everyone!
