My August 2015 Gossamer Blue Kit Layouts

September is here! Can you believe it? My kids are in their final week of summer so I have been taking advantage of MY last week of summer holidays to get as much scrapbooking, card making and general paper crafting done as possible. Our schedule around here starts to get pretty nutty once school’s in session!

I’m still working through my Gossamer Blue kit from last month but wanted to share with you what I’ve created so far. You’ve already seen this one which used the August 2015 kits as well as a lot of wood veneer bits and pieces from my stash. Here is a quick look at three more layouts that I’ve created from this kit.

#1 – Yes, They’re All Mine

All Mine by Alison Day Designs

All three of the layouts I’m showing you today were completed and then I went back to specifically add some more wood veneer pieces to them. So you see, I’m still trying to bust that stash at every opportunity!

Here you see some added hearts around the title.

This wood veneer piece was actually in the kit and this, plus the tag, was the jumping off point for the layout. The photo choice seemed pretty obvious to me once I’d put these two pieces together!

An important guideline to keep in mind when embellishing is that the thing you do to one embellishment group, it’s good to do to all of them. So here I added the wood veneer flowers and now all three embellishment areas have wood veneer in them.

#2 – Summer

Sometimes you get a bit of an odd-ball photo from an outing. Here’s mine. I “fixed” the problem by using this photo as an opportunity to scrapbook about my husband. Something I rarely do!

Even though I was purposefully trying to add wood veneer to these layouts, I didn’t want it to LOOK like I went back and added a pile of stuff just to get it out of my stash. So I looked for logical places and pieces that would fit. Here the ‘good times’ banner piece fit nicely into this little cluster. If I hadn’t told you, you’d never know it was added after the layout was “finished”!

The ‘go, see, do’ piece is from a set of vacation themed wood veneers. Perfect for these vacation photos!

#3 – Getting The Girls Together

Getting the Girls Together double page layout by Alison Day Designs

I did pull out the Kraft card stock from my stash for this layout. With all the photos I wanted to use, it was the best choice.

Besides trying to use up older wood veneer, I also wanted to make sure I used a lot of the chipboard stickers from the kit. There were super cute and thought it would be fun to create little vignettes with them for this layout. I knew the surfboard had to make it onto this page as the girls spent all afternoon in the lake on a surfboard or dinghy. So awesome!

This set of Thickers is amazing! It’s got upper and lower case letters and so many of each! I think I want to buy it in every colour choice out there!!

This anchor was another of those wood veneer pieces that I wasn’t sure if I’d ever use or not. Good to get it onto a page where it could make sense!

Thanks for stopping by today. As I said at the beginning of this post I have at least one more idea for using up those wood veneer pieces so stay tuned for that. I’ve also got more of this kit to use up before the September one drops on my door step.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone. Talk to you soon!
