On the Pages of a Magazine

There are only  a few Scrapbook magazines left in print circulation and so it is a great honour and privilege to be printed in one – Scrapbook and Cards Today magazine! Today I’d like to share my latest published layout with you.

Making It Spooky

I also filmed it for YouTube and now can share that too! Here’s the video.

Such an honour!! You can find this layout on page 65 of the Fall 2018 edition. And I love the write up in the magazine – made me chuckle!

“Even if you don’t love Halloween, when your children get old enough, they can pour their hearts into the tedious task of decoration so that you don’t have to! Alison admits that she faked a love for Halloween when her kids were little, but now she’s happy to hand over the duties to her daughter, Marley. What struck us about his layout in particular were those beautiful trees. Thanks for being so glorious, autumn!”

I showed it to Marley this morning (I just received my copy today) but I don’t think she was quite as impressed to see herself in a magazine as I was! Oh well. I’m sure she’ll get over it! LOL!

Here are a few more shots of some of the details on the layout.

Creating clusters like this is so much fun! I dug into my stash a lot for this layout which is also crazily satisfying. Here I’ve combined gold scalloped glitter tape with a couple of die cuts, a couple of buttons that I sewed on (one is chipboard), some enamel dots and even a narrow piece of washi tape behind it all. It’s up at the top right which is maybe an unusual position (for me) but helps balance the other two embellishment areas on the layout.

This is the largest of the embellishment areas as this is where both the journaling and the title live. Journaling spots with interesting shapes keep things interesting and soften the blockiness of the photos. Repeating the colours, motifs, and products keeps everything unified.

And the final the cluster down at the bottom corner of the layout. Again, a mix of die cuts, buttons, enamel dots, washi tape and the gold scalloped tape.

I had a lot of fun creating this layout, having it picked up for publication is just a bonus! Oh, and speaking of bonuses, check out my Instagram to see all the goodies that came in the box when they returned my layout … squeeee!!!
