It’s February! Can you believe it? Two very exciting things started today. The first is LOAD – LayOut A Day – with Lain Ehmann. This go round we will be busting some serious Scrapbooking Myths!! Yahoo! I am a firm believer that there are no rules in scrapbooking so this will be a fun, and freeing, month! I’ll get to the second exciting thing in a bit but first, today’s layout for LOAD.
Our prompt was about needing good photos to create good pages.
Ha!
I think anyone who is familiar with my work knows that my photos are … mediocre at best!! LOL!
I am fortunate to have 3 beautiful, if sometimes non-compliant, subjects to photograph. Today’s layout is all about that.ย My sister-in-law gave them all matching sweaters for Christmas, something they’ve never had before, so it needed to be documented! The journaling says it all: “Having 3 girls, I have been tempted many times to buy matching outfits for them but Greg is completed opposed to it. So when his sister gave them matching sweaters for Christmas I just had to get a photo. If only they were a tiny bit more cooperative. Oh well. Scrap what you’ve got, right?”
My title reflects my desire for just one nice group shot of my girls. They areย queens of the photo bomb and the hamming it up for the camera. I decided to show the out takes as well as the “good” photo. I use the word good in quotations as there are things like random chairs and a stair well in the back ground. NOT an ideal back drop!! Where are the beautiful forests or well put together and expertly designed living areas??
Ha!
Did I say that already?
A word about the undercover journaling. It’s not private and I’m not trying to hide it or anything. In fact, I was originally going to write on top of the vellum speech bubbles but then I thought, “what would it look like behind the vellum?” and well, you see the results. ๐ ย If you do have private thoughts to record this may be a great technique to try.
Here are those out takes I was talking about. I am using my January Gossamer Blue kit and in it were several photo overlays of various sizes. I used 2 of the 2.5″ square ones over 2 of the photos added some phrase stickers and called it done. I love the results!
Okay. One down. 27 more to go! Tomorrows prompt is already percolating!! ๐
And now for that other piece of exciting news. I decided to enter into something called the Supreme Scrap Tournament (I think this was before I chose my word of ‘Simplify’ LOL!) and the fun starts today. It is an international tournament made up of teams representing different countries. On Team Canada we have 16 talented ladies participating in either the Scrap Diva tournament or the Card Diva tournament. Challenges were handed out today and the rules are pretty strict. The players all vote on their favourite entries and the winners proceed onto the next challenge. I will be posting my entry once I’ve made it so look for that … coming soon!!
Oh, and wish me luck!! I’m sort of freaking out a little bit!! ๐
Well I think that’s enough excitment for one post. Since my eldest is still awake (why?!?!) I will print off my photos for tomorrow’s LOAD layout and my Scrap Diva layout. Nothing gets me motivated more than having the photos I need sitting on my desk!
Good night!
