Gosh! Is it the third week of June already?! Where has the time gone? Clearly Monday snuck up on me this week as I forgot to get this post scheduled ahead of time. Oh well. I blame this head cold I caught on Saturday. Somehow everything is fuzzy …
But it is indeed Monday again and that means there’s a new sketch challenge up at Let’s Get Sketchy. This week our sketch is by our fearless leader, Brenshevia.
Lovely, isn’t it?
Here’s what I did with it.
These photos are from a couple years ago when the girls and I went strawberry picking (or in Christine’s case, strawberry eating!) at a local farm. The fields are ready again for strawberry picking so as soon as this cold is over, I’ll take the girls out there. Last year we didn’t u-pick but bought a flat from the farm. I made jam for the first time since my Mum died and wished I’d bought two flats of strawberries. We ran out of fruit for the girls smoothies far too quickly – usually we just freeze most of the strawberries whole. I will have to make sure that doesn’t happen this year!
When I was picking supplies for this layout I came across a page from Simple Stories This and That Journal. I loved the burlap plus red gingham pattern and the word definition journaling strips on it fit with my theme too. In my stash I found more red gingham patterned paper which made things pretty easy to put together. Using the navy blue card stock as an accent here and there brings in the blue from the largest photo and helps keep the colour scheme from feeling too sweet. I had to raid three different packs of blue letter stickers to find enough of the right letters to spell out my title. But I’m okay with the mix. I think it adds whimsy!
When I went searching for something to embellish this page I came across an old sticker pack with all these red and blue flowers in it. Sold!!
Some red sequins and a phrase sticker from that sheet I’m still trying to use up (see the post here and the video here) finish things off perfectly.
My journaling fit well beneath the definition of ‘fresh’.
More sequins – kind of loving the sequin trend right now. It’s also a great way to use up all those Martha Stewart sequins in my stash!
Here you can see the different alphabet sets I used.
Also, the page was feeling naked so I added the faux stitching around the edge.
Thanks for stopping by today. Be sure to check out all the other wonderful projects from Team A and then link up your own. Loved your cards and how you used your scraps, very inventive. Loved your scrapbook page also. The color of the page pops the red out just enough.
