Happy Monday everyone!
I am back with a quick Make It Monday post for you. Sadly, the cards I am sharing were made for family members overseas as one of my Aunts passed away last week. I am unable to go to Scotland to attend the funeral but wanted to send a little bit of myself to them so they know that I’m thinking of them.
These cards feature a coordinating stamp and die set from HoneyBee Stamps – Dragonfly. We only have one stamp set left in the store it is such a good set! In this video I show you how you can use just the stamp set to create a lovely card, and then emboss and die cut some vellum to take that original design and elevate it. Take a look.
A quick word on coordinating sets … if you see them, BUY THEM! If you like hand cutting all your stamped images, or have absolutely no intentions of ever wanting to cut out one of the images you’ve just stamped, then I guess you’re off the hook here. It has been my experience however that every time I don’t buy the coordinating dies, I regret it. They make life so much easier!!
Okay, I’m getting off my soap box now. Here’s a closer look at the two cards.
The one on the right has no embossing but I did add Nuvo Drops in White Blizzard to the dragonfly bodies and tail. That small touch helps them stand out and feel special.
The dragonflies on the card on the left really stand out thanks to the vellum. Have you ever tried embossing with your Distress Oxide Inks? It’s super easy and with just clear embossing powder, you can have gorgeous images in all the colours of the rainbow … or at least, all the colours of ink in your stash!
To help disguise the glue, and to add extra sparkle, I added the Nuvo drops to the vellum dragonflies in the exact same way I did for the first card. I may be slightly addicted to my Nuvo Drops LOL!
Thanks for popping by today. Here’s a quick look at the supplies I used. Everything is linked over on the YouTube video.
