Big Title Fun

Happy Saturday everyone! My kids are going across to Vancouver Island today for a week at “Granny Camp”!

Can I get a “Woot! Woot!”?

I am looking forward to a quiet house, some one-on-one time with my husband and some serious scrapping time! What’s on your agenda for today?

If you’re planning on creating a layout I’d like to share a fun title treatment you can try. This is my last share (at the moment) of the projects made during the Paper Issues Crop in March. Our challenge this time was to use a large title. Either large as in long (multi-word titles can be a lot of fun to create and such a great design element) or large as in big letters. I went for the latter option.

I was using up some Gossamer Blue kits that had been sitting around gathering dust for far too long and in one of them (February Bits and Pieces) were these cute chipboard Polaroid frames. I think they’re intended to make a banner out of but … as you can see, I like to use things in my own way!!

Don’t be afraid of going against ‘manufacturers suggestions’. Remember, THERE ARE NO RULES IN SCRAPBOOKING!

Originally I thought my photos would look good inside the frames but as I was playing with the layout of my page, it made more sense to line up my photos across the bottom of the page and use the frames for my title. I backed them with papers from the 6×6 paper pad (also in that kit) and then used letter stickers from my stash to create the title.

As I’m sure you can tell, I’ve used two different sets of letters. One was a really old Michael’s brand and the other was a set I’d purchased at a garage sale. Neither set was complete but they were approximately the same size and colour so I mixed them up. The fonts were even close enough to not be an issue. Just goes to show that with a bit of creative thinking, doing some stash diving every once in a while can really pay off!

The other elements in that kit were perfect as accents for this layout about my husband and my first real adventure without the kids!

If you look closely you’ll see a vellum ampersand in the middle of the bottom of this photo. I sometimes have trouble using those ampersands (I’m not in the habit of creating lovey-dovey ‘you & me’ layouts!) so I was happy to be able to add it here.

Okay, short and sweet as I have some serious kid-free living to do today!

Have a great weekend!
