Using All The Greens!

Hello and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Do you celebrate your Irish roots on this day, or this just an excuse to wear green, kiss perfect strangers, and drink green beer (not necessarily in that order)? I haven’t done that Ancestry DNA test to verify, but my 100% British Isles heritage probably has a bit of Irish in it. I’m fairly certain most people born in that part of the world can trace their ancestors back to some Irish rover or another, right?

Now that we have children our celebrations tend to the tame side. A bit of Irish stew and colcannon, maybe some soda bread if I’m of a mind, but rarely more than that. However, there was that one time we took in the festivities in downtown Vancouver that I’ve never scrapbooked … until today!

St. Patrick’s Day 2012

Here’s the finished layout.

St. Patrick's Day 2012 by Alison Day

This feels outside my normal style, what do you think? Because I decided to limit my paper choices to 6×6 paper pads, the blocks of pattern are smaller than I’d normally have on my layouts. And the photos are arranged in something other than a large block. Gasp! Perhaps the leprechaun’s got to me after all! LOL!

I think as creative people it is important to shake things up every once in a while. It’s easy to get into creative ruts where every card, every layout, every project ends up looking like the last. That’s when the joy of this amazing hobby leaves us too. So if this looks a bit different than other layouts I’ve done recently, I’m okay with that.

Well, I’m off to get that Irish Stew started. May you have a blessed day and may the luck of the Irish be with you!

Cheers!
