Happy Saturday everyone! We are currently away in Parkesville, BC enjoying the Tigh-na-Mara resort on the Union’s dime (Greg has a conference). The weather so far has been pretty foggy and cool and with Marley’s broken wrist there’s been no swimming in the pool but it’s nice to get away for a bit as a family. With my work schedules falling only at times when Greg’s available to be with the kids, we don’t get a ton of family time right now. 🙁
Anyway, even though I’m away from my crafting room, I can still share with you what I created for this week’s drill over at SWAT. We have an awesome sketch for you to use along with the twist of adding wooden elements.
Here’s the sketch.
Isn’t that a fun sketch?! Here’s what I came up with.
I wasn’t sure what wooden embellishments I had in my stash so went stash diving to see. I found the wooden leaf as well as a lot of woodgrain patterned stickers (recently acquired for my birthday – Thanks Sandra!!) The woodgrain circular shapes were perfect for the sketch so after some liberal mist splatters I randomly stuck them down.
Here are some detail shots.
My journaling. Christine loves going to her preschool and part of the reason is the two other girls in this photo (as well as two others not pictured here today). It is so nice to have all 3 girls eager to attend school! I’ve got friends who’s children still kick up a fuss every morning and every time I see them I thank my lucky stars I don’t have to put up with that!
Also in my stash was this strip left over a previous project. It was perfect for my title!
Here’s a close up of the wooden leaf and some of the other bits and pieces I’ve pulled together as embellishments.
More clusters. The layered butterfly was also a new acquisition. All the other bits – the scalloped circle, the glittery circle with the arrow cut out of it – were found in my container of precut items. I’d kind of forgotten about this container but a recent shelf collapse catastrophe in my craft room which forced me to empty everything out and reorganize, brought it to my attention and to the forefront of my creative process.
Okay, that’s it. Off to explore Coombs today I think. Supposedly there are goats on the roof over there …
Have a great weekend. Can’t see what you guys come up with for this sketch with a twist challenge. Link it up here.
This is a great sketch! I’m so not on the ball with scrapping these days – have I said that before? I’m going to have to get in on some sketches again before I miss this whole year! I looooove your take on it!!! Especially that wooden leaf – who makes that, do you know? Dealing with a wet bed this morning, yay! Better stop stalling!
Thanks Roxy! Great to hear from you!! I’m sorry but I don’t know who made that leaf. I got it in a prize pack … I did just get some really cute wood veneer pieces from Creative Embellishments though so that’s a place to start. Hope to see some of your work in our galleries soon. 🙂
