LOAD513 Days 2 & 3

I am sneaking in my Day 2 and Day 3 LOAD513 layouts tonight. If you are looking for the ScrapbookSteals.com blog hop please go here.

Clearly my Day 2 layout did NOT get posted by the midnight deadline last night but … it’s done and that’s what counts in my book! Our prompt was the weapon “knife” which I eventually took in the direction of cutting and then my Silhouette Cameo.  I created something unique with it – this chevron pattern that I used as a template. But I’m getting ahead of myself. First let me show you the layout.

LOAD513-2 Can't Get Enough Soccer

I recently saw a video tutorial on creating an ombre background using mists and then laying a template over it to add an additional layer of mist. I loved what she did (check it out here) and when I saw this giant chevron cut file in the Silhouette store I knew I had to try it myself. I LOVE it and will definitely be using this again!

These detail shots really show off the chevron misted pattern.

Lots of layering with die cuts and extra punched shapes from my stash plus some stickers and wood veneer.

I tucked the journaling onto a Elle’s Studio tag behind one of the photos.

For Day 3 we moved into the kitchen on the Clue board. I tossed around the idea of scrapping photos taken in our kitchen or a favourite recipe but in the end scrapped a tradition that takes us OUT of the kitchen. For our birthdays we have a tradition that the birthday girl (or boy) chooses which restaurant we will be eating at that night. A night where I don’t have to cook dinner is a good night in my books!

LOAD513-3 Favourite Spot

I abandoned my usual 4×6 photos in exchange for 4 3×3 photos in a square grid.

My journaling card has the numbers 1 through 5 to represent the 5 of us, not 5 things about the occasion. I just wasn’t feeling that deep today!!

My title had to be MacGyvered a bit as ALL the letter stickers I pulled out for this layout were missed key letters. Sheesh!

Well, there you have it. Two more LOAD layouts down. 28 more to go! Can’t wait to see what Lain has in store for us tomorrow!
