Documenting Pumpkins Over the Years

Happy Monday!

Today I am bringing you the first of two Halloween themed Make It Monday posts. This one uses a little kit of embellishments I put together years ago and is now for sale in my store. Take a look at it, and then I’ll show you what I made with it today.

Fun, right? Here’s how I used it to embellish a story about our pumpkins over the last 3 years.

As I say in my journaling, we don’t go crazy decorating for Halloween. In fact, I’ll let you in on a little secret … I’m not the biggest fan of Halloween. Gasp! I know, it’s practically a crime to admit these days, but I’d be pretty happy to pretend the whole holiday doesn’t exist.

When my girls were younger I was more willing to dress up, decorate and of course, carve pumpkins. We always went to a local pumpkin patch and each girl got to pick her own pumpkin. Then my husband and I would carve them all.

Now that they are older, we buy them from the local nursery and they do all the designing and carving. Way easier on me! LOL!

When deciding where my three little embellishment pieces were to go, I chose to put the largest next to the photo from 2020. I figured those poor pumpkins needed all the extra love they could get, because even by my low standards, that was poor excuse for a Halloween!

Then I grouped the spider web die cut with the layered leaf and pumpkin and tucked one at the top of the photo strip – with sequins for sparkle. The other went at the bottom of the journaling block. And if you look closely at the pumpkin on the right above, you’ll see I gave my daughters one of the packs in 2019 and they added bits to the pumpkins themselves. So cute!

And there you have it, a super quick layout made all the easier with this little packet of fun!

As a bonus, here’s a layout I made years ago using this kit.
