Earlier this week I started sharing the layouts I’ve made with my second Clear The Desk kit of supplies. To recap, it was a much larger kit than outlined in class but I knew I had a stack of photos from my eldest daughters Grade 7 Graduation Assembly to document. For me, having a kit of cohesive supplies to tell the story from one day or one event helps keep me focused. If I have to spend time hunting down papers and embellishments for each layout I tend to lose interest because I get bogged down with all the decision making.
So far I’ve created 8 layouts from this kit. The first two can be found in this post, the next three in this post. Today I am sharing the latest three, so let’s get going. (PS – my numbering system for my layouts is for the whole Clear the Desk class, not the number of layouts made from any one kit of supplies. I’m curious how many layouts I can make as I work my way through the class which I why I’ve done this.)
Hi guys. Quick post today to share two card process videos with you.
The first one shows you the contents of my February card kit from Simon Says Stamp. Yes, you read that correctly, I said February. It took over a month to reach me thanks to Canada Post and/or Canada Customs. (insert mad emoji here!)
But it finally did show up in my mailbox and I was so excited to see it that I set out to make a couple quick cards. In this first video I share the content of the kit – it’s JAM PACKED with goodies – and then make a card using one of the embossing folders from the kit. There are two !
Despite committing to fully completing LOAD218 this month, I signed up for Shimelle’s latest class called Clear The Desk (click the link to check out more info on this class and sign up if you like – NOT an affiliate link). Yes, I am certifiable, and I could combine my LOAD layouts with her class prompts, but I’ve already got a good, and working plan in place for LOAD so wanted to use her class to get other things off my desk and To Do list. It’s been a very busy few days around here!
Usually when I sign up for her classes it’s with the greatest of intentions, but I end up just enjoying watching her videos and I don’t participate. I know, what a waste, right? This time I decided to play along with the prompts and I’ve got 5 more completed layouts under my belt and more stash busted! Winner!
The premise of the class is to clear out products purchased in 2017 to make room for all the new 2018 products that are hitting stores now. I didn’t buy a ton of new product in 2017 – mostly Glitter Girl and I’ve been busting that stash with my Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio Tour Album for LOAD – so I decided to just try to clear out products I love but haven’t put on a page yet.
Today I bring you the second half of my 10 Cards from 1 Kit Challenge and another video. To see Part 1 please visit this post.
My first 5 cards took me awhile to finish. I had a couple extra challenges thrown in there which probably slowed my creative process a bit. Plus I was trying to explain things as I went along. Hard to talk and think at the same time!! For these last 5 cards I decided not to try to talk as I worked and just record a voice over commentary after the fact. I think this format works much better but I’ll let you all have the final word. Let me know in the comments if you like this sped up version better.
Okay, here is Part II – Cards 6 – 10 from the January 2018 monthly card kit from Simon Says Stamp. Continue reading »
Hi everyone and Happy Monday! At least, it’s still Monday where I live …that counts, right?
Last week on my Instagram page I issued a challenge – well, two actually. First I showed off my January 2018 card kit from Simon Says Stamp and challenged myself to make 10 cards from it. Then, I upped the challenge by asking you, my viewers, to suggest types of cards to make! I only had two takers on a chance to receive a free card so … Heather, one of my ScrapHappy Sisters, and Aurela, my friend and neighbour, will be receiving cards from me in answer to their suggestions.
I decided to film the whole process to give you a really good look at just how inspiration strikes me. Today I’m showing you the first 5 cards I’ve made with this kit. Be warned, this is a longer than normal video! Guess I can’t commentate and create at the same time – LOL! Enjoy! Continue reading »
